Webb Dock West Wharf Lighting Upgrade
Webb Dock West Wharf Lighting Upgrade Project
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
In mid-March 2017, Eifers commenced construction at Webb Dock West, Port Melbourne. This extensive project encompassed a range of tasks, including excavation, soil compaction, and the installation of 1.9 kilometers of high voltage (HV) and communication conduit and pits. Additionally, we constructed concrete foundations for 30-meter-high light poles. Our team skillfully managed these tasks while maintaining close coordination with stakeholders and our client, effectively navigating the challenges posed by live port movements and unloading operations.
To ensure our client's satisfaction, we implemented a rigorous quality control process, conducting thorough testing of all backfill materials and bedding before their use. Given that Webb Dock operates as a live terminal, the project was systematically divided into 100-meter sections. Each section underwent a meticulous process: excavation, conduit installation, backfilling, and testing to achieve a 98% Maximum Dry Density (MDD) compaction, followed by sealing. This phased approach ensured minimal disruption to port operations and maintained safety standards.
We are proud to say that all contracted works were completed within the programmed schedule, with works coming to an end in August of 2017. All civil and concreting works were achieved to a high standard.
