Marine & Civil, Howard Street Bendigo Bridge Widening

Marine & Civil subcontracted Eifers Civil in the widening of the Howard Street, Bendigo bridge.

SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of works included the comprises of strengthening the 5-span u-slabs, parts of the deck and crossheads with carbon fibre reinforcing polymer (CFRP) as well as the widening of the pedestrian path with bolt on steel extensions and a cast insitu deck along with the construction of concrete sleeper retaining walls, rock gabions and rock beaching at the base of the abutments.

The works were located adjacent to a school and the bridge works were completed under a traffic management arrangement which allowed for the continual use of the traffic lanes on the bridge at all times.

Upon completion the widened bridge crossing the Bendigo Creek will provide the important link between Epsom and Eaglehawk servicing in excess of 10,000 vehicles per day that the City of Greater Bendigo needed to accomodate.
