Prices Creek Culvert Construction

Prices Creek Culvert Construction, Willowmavin

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Located in Central Victoria just 40k north of Melbourne, the Mitchell Shire region accommodates a population of 49,000 and is one of the fastest growing outer metropolitan municipalities in Victoria. With a host of diverse features and landscapes, Mitchell Shire holds significant ecological and geographical significance, and containing the oldest inland town in Victoria.

Eifers was commissioned by Mitchell Shire Council for the repair of critical culvert infrastructure along Prices Creek Willowmavin. Served by multiple tributaries to the east, and feeding off into the major Kurkuruc Creek, the Prices Creek waterway acts as an important runoff collector in the overall hydrology of the area.

The original corrugated iron culvert was brought into disrepair through major storm events and flooding in the Mitchell Shire Region. Compounding this, the failure of the culvert infrastructure created instability and structural failure in the above road overpass. For this reason, Mitchell Shire Council was forced to cut off access to the road immediately and procure a contractor for urgent demolition and re-construction works.
